The biggest variety of Mezza plates I have seen in Lebanon. You are literally Flooded.

It is a set menu and boy is it a mouthful. It is sooo hard to pace yourself through the courses to get the main meal but is well worth it if you can.

The meat and Chicken are scrumptious. And the desserts are outstanding. I recommend the Em Ali highly.

Upstairs has no live entertainment although you can hear the band downstairs through the sound system.

The staff are professional and clean cut.

Also may I mention the kitchen and bathrooms are both squeaky clean......I checked

“Wow, how much food can you eat!”

Reviewed October 2016

The restaurant itself is lovely, it has great atmosphere and is decorated to make it feel homely and also cosy. There is nothing worse than a blank canvas in a restaurant, especially when the food is so colourful.
Onto the food. Go Hungry, there is lots, I think we had some 42 different dishes. First round is like the vegetarian course, then comes a meat course and then a desert course, bare in mind that the first two courses consist of about 16/16 different each! Small amounts from each dish is suggested, otherwise you just won't get round to tasting them all. In the main I really enjoyed the vast majority of dishes the ones I wasn't keen on only contained ingredients I didn't like, so nothing down to the actual dish itself, for example, I really don't like olives, so dishes with olives in wasn't for me.
They do tell you what each dish is, but they said things so quickly that we couldn't quite understand, but we are English, so I didn't expect to understand all of them. The only thing I would say, is that it might have been nice if they could have taken their time to explain it to us, we did after all look very English. Service was very good in the main. Took a long time to get the bill, but they were packed.
Be warned, if you don't like smokers at meal time, this is not the place for you, as all the locals not only seem to smoke, but are also into having shisha at meal times. It was a little overwhelming if I'm honest, as neither of us smoke.
All in all it is very much worth a visit and you must book. For true authentic food, this is the place to go.

If you have not tried the food at Em Sherif then you have not tried the best dishes created and offered in Lebanon. No trip to Lebanon is complete without a nice dinner at this one of kind restaurant.

Try the set menu and try hard not to ask for second serving -hard to do but must restrict your urges- as the menu is very long and each new dish being served is tastier than the one before it. Should you feel stuffed before the main dishes are served then don't feel bad as you join the club.

The charm of this restaurant starts from the moment the front door is opened before you. The arabesque décor, along with the authentic Arabic music well set you on the road of desires and temptation to fill your tummy with the ingeniously modernized and improved Lebanese mezza and famous main dishes.

They don't have a menu, as you pay around $60 that includes every item in the restaurant. They will start with salads and cold appetizers, then hot appetizers and starters, them main courses, then sweets. Any drinks will be added to the check.

Service, table wares, accessories, and decoration are marvelous.

I did not see a menu, but if you look on the website, it is clear that it is a set lunch with something in the region of 30 dishes. At $40 per head it was not for those on a budget, but a great meal nevertheless. The most distressing aspect is the scale of the waste that is incurred, even when there were five people at our table. Not a place seemingly to go on your own, as I doubt any individual could make even the smallest dent in the food supplied.

I love Em Sherif! It's one of my go to places for large groups. They have a great concept with a set price where they just keep feeding you these little mezze dishes followed by grilled meats (beef, lamp, chicken) and then the desert of course. Traditional recipes that are rethought, fused and modernized. Every thing they brought to the table was delicious and deserved a standing ovation. The staff is friendly, the price is reasonable and the food is always consistent and yummy! I highly recommend it. Bravo!

“Absolutely Amazing!”

Reviewed January 2015

I am a big Lebanese food fan, and a pretty critical one. I was advised to go to Em Sherif's by a close friend and made sure to reserve a table during my visit to Beirut. This place is nothing like the many many ones I visited before. First of all Em Sherif herself was there to greet us, also, the decoration and atmosphere were beautiful. As for food, well, it is basically a set menu were you get everything the restaurant serves! A heavenly taste of the best Lebanese mezza (appetizers) I have ever had and trust me I had many! Then you get the main dish and the dish of the day which both were mouthwatering. Not to mention having a waiter at your table at almost all times. Simply the best. I hope it comes to Amman!
Thank you Em Sherif!
Things you should know if you wanna go there:
1. Make sure to reserve ahead of time ( a week or so).
2. We were there for lunch but they have a program at night with musicians that I was told is super entertaining.
3. The kitchen closes between 4pm to 8pm so make sure to go before or after that time!
Enjoy!

If you have arrived in Beirut and are reading this, then it may already be too late to book, such is the popularity of Em Sharif. We managed to find a slot on Christmas Eve which meant there was a very mixed clientele; everyone from the well to do Beirutis dressed to the hilt and a big table of Syrian woman who were singling and clapping along to the musicians and having a ball. The whole scene was something like a cross between Casablanca and Indiana Jones with the waiters (black tie jackets with traditional baggy black trousers) hefting aloft trays of Lebanese delights in the mock Ottoman decor. The menu is set and the waiters bring bowl after mouthwatering bowl of delicious food. I loved the perfect the Kibbeh, the aromatic mini sausages the tender chicken livers. just one warning: pace yourself, there are a lot of dishes to sample! It was a special night and a magical combination of food and atmosphere.

It is similar to other Lebanese restaurants in the categories of meals served, but it differs otherwise!
The place is antique and luxurious .. They serve fresh hot and cold dishes, thanks to the beautiful oven seen in the lobby.
The unique characters are:
-The way they serve the dishes, as they just come every minute to serve you a chunk from a dish, starting from great variety of salads and starters even freshly hot pastries, main dish chunks, ending with desserts. They serve you every single bite! This way you will have a bite after another presented to you rather than serving your self, unless you decided to do so as they will put some dishes on the table. Some may feel irritated for being served every minutes and feels somewhat stressed to wait for whats next every minute! But I think that even this tingling feeling is interestingly unique!
-High quality recipes with fine delicious and somewhat innovative taste and look.

I ordered lemon-mint drink but it was too sweet and not cold.

Smoking indoor is allowed and shisha (hubble-bubble) can be ordered.

Great service

I recommend it.

The service was also luxurious, their well-trained staff succeed to amaze us with their friendly attitude, serving skills and speed.

The environment was also very cosy and nice, the music was not loud and the live instruments playing band and singer was great added value to the nice ambiance (except when he sang for fairuz :) ).

“Excellent food in a great atmosphere”

Reviewed June 21, 2015

I came here with my family who visited me in Lebanon on my birthday and I think this was the most exquisite birthday dinner, I ever had the chance to experience.
The taste, quality and variety of the traditional Lebanese food is simply outstanding.
When we arrived we were promptly attended and guided to our reserved table. The service was prompt and polite, as you can expect from such a fine-dining place.
The restaurant doesn't have a menu but the waiters simply start serving you food. First they served us some bread and salad, followed by cold mezze, hot mezze and dessert. The food is served on big plates which are shared with the whole table. There is something for everybody even if you have dietary restrictions (veggie, vegan, lactose, celiac disease, peanuts, seafood etc.). So no need to worry or request a 'special meal'. The food included all the classics, such as hummus, muhammara, mutabal, shish taouk, grape leaves, tabbouleh, kibbeh and much more. The food is served in abundance and we could always ask for seconds in case we finished a plate. Though this was definitely not needed because food was served in abundance!!! In addition to the delicious food, they also have a fine selection of Lebanese wine and Shisha of course.
To round of the atmosphere, they had a band perform live throughout the evening.
The restaurant definitely is pricey but totally worth its money for a special occasion or the finale of your Lebanon trip.

Tips:
- Make sure to come hungry, as you will want to be able to try all the plates that they offer.
- Be aware, that there is more food to come. So don't fill yourself up with the cold mezze already and definitely leave some for the dessert.
- Booking is essential. It is best to call a few days in advance.
- It is better to come a bit later in the evening, since the band only starts playing relatively late and you will want to enjoy their music.
- Plan enough time for your dinner and don't expect to go somewhere else afterwards as you most likely will be stuffed.

Amazing table setting, amazing food, amazing service, and amazing Shisha. The place offers a set menu only, which made us a bit worried in the beginning, however, after they started serving the food, we were surprised by the wide variety and that all items were very nice and delicious.

“A one of a KIND RESTAURANT in beyrouth”

Reviewed May 10, 2015

Well i was invited to go on my birthday with my husband and it was a really special choice to go for this occasion. I was looking all around me enjoying every single detail from the cultery to the floor tiles. Then it was time for dinner, the perfect presentation of the food made me really happy and when it comes to the taste, i can say, it was one of a kind Lebanese food with a twist. There was a big choice of plates, no fixed menu. The portion for two can feed four people actually.
There was a Oud musician as well who gave the evening a very special "taste".

“Great innovative food”

Reviewed March 22, 2015

This is a very good restaurant on many levels, food quality and quantity, service, decor (old lebanese house) and ambiance (on weekends there is a band playing). It offers a set menu from the lebanese/aleppan cuisine from mezze to main dishes to desserts. The innovation is in the mix between the two cuisines, in the revisitation of some dishes like the fattouch (where they replaced the fried bread with fried eggplant which gives a new kick to the dish) or the katayef with ice cream and finally in reviving some forgotten desserts like remmenieh (sweet pomegranate in a starch based preparation) and laymounieh (orange juice cooked with starch and sugar). If you decide to visit it think how to manage space in your stomach because lots of food is awaiting you ;-)

“great food, great service ... actually TOO MUCH FOOD”

THis is a great restaurant to taste delicious Lebanese meals and meze. DIshes keep coming, one after another, till you cannot eat any more, and then comes the main course. Take care not to eat too much of the meze as this will leave no space in your stomach for the sweets. It's on the expensive side, but truly worth it

its not easy, but it is true. wonderfully amazing set menu, the food keeps coming, manage your eating to be able to taste everything and still make it to desserts, you must not be full in order to enjoy. the lower level is wonderfully decorated, its a lil too tight for me, I prefer the roof/ terrace, bigger tables more comfortable space. enjoy

“Amazing Restaurant”

I liked everything about this restaurant. The food was just too much for me to handle. We went there for lunch and it costed USD 38 per person on a weekday. It's a set menu so nothing for you to choose. The mezze is endless and they even refill if you need to. The main dish is usually grills or kebbe bel laban. Then finally comes the yummy desserts. We loved the mahalabia.

"Just Amazing!"

Reviewed January 30, 2015

I went to Em Sherif when it first opened its doors , the atmosphere was charming , live music all dedicated to the great Lebanese legend "Feyrouz" , the decor is beautiful, the food is wonderfuly cooked and presented, it's Lebanese food with a twist and this is what this outsanding cuisine really needs .
The most amazing thing in the restaurant is the service and the personal attention of the owner herself to details , she is really involved in every aspect , the food ,the presentation , the decor , the ambiance ... in my opinion this is the recipe for success.
What is amazing as well, is that Lebanese gourmet normally get tired of going to the same place and they always seek something new , but Em Sherif managed to keep them coming for more, simply because it's amazing .

“Great Food and Great Lebanese Entertainment”

Reviewed October 2, 2014

This restaurant is unique in several ways. For a Lebanese restaurant, a set menu is the only available option (which is a good thing since you dont have to worry about over or under ordering). An army of waiters are there to serve you (they literally never let your glass go empty). If you are sitting in the main area of the restaurant, at 10:30 p.m. a typical Lebanese band will start playing classic Arabic tunes. The atmosphere is quite unique, a must try !

Em Sherif was a total delight. We arranged a birthday dinner and booked a table on the upper level. From the moment we arrived to the restaurant, and were escorted to our table, we were looked after by an army of servers.

There is no menu to choose from. You simply relax, and are subjected to a wonderful assault on your taste buds, by an array of authentic Lebanese dishes with a twist. The presentation, taste, and imagination of the food was tantalising and delightful. You have to have a healthy appetite to sustain the great variety and number of dishes that were offered. The ambience was lovely, and the service was excellent, and professional.

The average per person per head came to around US$90, including alcohol. Good value for money, for the quality, quantity, and high standard that was offered.

I highly recommend this restaurant.

“That was different”

Reviewed September 18, 2014

Most of the Lebanese restaurants across Beirut are pretty much the same, this one was different, the atmosphere was really nice, we were a big group , we used the 2nd floor, we could hear some live music downstairs, the quantity and " quality of food " was superb, the variety was enormous , never knew that they had these types of appetizers before . i ruined my diet with no regret , but frankly it was too much that i had to say no for so many things. The difference in service was that they individually offer you mezza, so for the warmhearted, it was not easy to say no.
